The Fruit of the Spirit: Love
1 Corinthians 13
1. Gather as a family and watch this video:
If you have kids of all ages encourage them to join in too and do this as a whole family.
Then watch this one.
2. Read the Scripture listed above.
Allow your child to read aloud if they are able. Take turns reading parts of it. You can also read the pages in the Jesus Storybook Bible if you have preschoolers. Or do both! Whatever works for your family. And even if they struggle to be still, push through and do it anyway. You never know what they are picking up.
3. Discussion Questions. Talk with each other and answer together. Feel free to skip questions if you think they are over your child’s head.
-Start by talking about the “Fruit of the Spirit”
-What are some things you love? (Examples: pizza, ice cream, grandma, baseball, etc.)
-Do you love (food, game, or hobby) the same way that you love (family member’s name)? What is the difference?
-Are there different kinds of love? (This short video explains some of the different types of love mentioned in the bible!)
-What does it mean to love someone? (To care about them, to put their needs before yours, to sacrifice for them)
-How can we show someone we love them? (Telling them, Doing things for them, High-fives/fist bumps/hugs, being kind to them, giving them gifts, spending time with them)
-How can we show God we love Him? (Worshiping Him, thanking Him, spending time with Him, loving and serving others)
-Thank God for His love! Remember we love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)
-Tell God how much you love Him and why!
-Ask God to help you find ways to love others.
5. Worship. Listen, sign along, and dance to the songs below:
